Lady Gaga Confirms New Album's Title Is ARTPOP

After tweeting out a photo of her <a href="http://newsroom.mtv.com/2012/08/03/lady-gaga-unveils-new-tattoo-pic/">new tattoo, which reads ARTPOP</a>, last week, she took to Twitter over the weekend to confirm that the ink is indeed the name of her 2013 album release."Make sure when writing about my new album/project ARTPOP that you CAPITALIZE the title, *its all in the details* good morning twitter!" she <a href="https://twitter.com/ladygaga/status/232114376067403776"_blank">wrote</a> on Sunday.<div class="player-placeholder right" title="Lady Gaga Has The Title And Concept For Her Next Album" id="vid:717202" width="415" height="255"></div>Mother Monster originally revealed her plan to <a href="/news/articles/1686922/lady-gaga-new-album-title.jhtml">drop the album's title</a> in September back in June before apparently getting antsy and releasing the name a month ahead of schedule. It's a title she's had in mind since MTV News spoke to her last year."I've started writing it and I have the name for it, and all the concepts are <a href="/news/articles/1675458/lady-gaga-next-album.jhtml">beginning to flourish</a> and take place," she said in December. "I'm excited to put it out, but it's not done yet. So I'll put it out when it's done."Gaga has been making time to record ARTPOP while on her Born This Way tour. She reportedly enlisted the help of <a href="/news/articles/1690576/lady-gaga-whitesnake-guitarist-doug-aldrich-new-album.jhtml">Whitesnake guitarist Doug Aldrich</a> for the album. The twosome hit the studio with Gaga's longtime collaborator DJ White Shadow in Los Angeles.She also recently teased fans with a new song, <a href="/news/articles/1690196/lady-gaga-new-music-car-new-york.jhtml">blasting it out of her car</a> while in New York City. She even implied that the dance track would be the first single from the new album. DJ White Shadow produced the track.Gaga has also been playing her new piano-heavy song "Princess Die" while on tour. During one stop, she opened up a bit about her next album. "Let's just say I feel, I feel that when I wrote Born This Way, I demonstrated a sense of maturity," she said. I've been watching a lot of HGTV since coming to LA. My favorite shows are House Hunters and House Hunters International. There's also another show I like to watch called For Rent, but only because it makes me angry.

When it comes to apartments/homes, I think living in New York for the past eleven years has made me bitter because there was this whiny broad on For Rent a few nights ago who was looking at a huge place—A HUGE PLACE—and was like, "There's no place for a dining room table..."

B*TCH, YOU'RE LUCKY TO GET A KITCHEN IN NEW YORK.

I hated her.

Now there's some stupid lady on House Hunters who wants a townhouse with a fireplace that she can turn on with a light switch. IT HAS TO BE A LIGHT SWITCH because she doesn't want to bend down and flip a switch on the floor.

WHO DO THESE PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE?

Anyway, I know my LA update is WAY overdue (and truth be told I wrote a long one last week but for some reason it didn't save so I lost the whole thing and I was so angry that I just said, "Ah, f*ck it," and closed the computer instead of rewriting) but to give you a quick update, I AM SO HAPPY HERE. I MEAN, I'M REALLY, REALLY HAPPY. And I think living here and watching HGTV—both of these things combined—has made me realize that New York was just beating me down. I mean, the fireplace lady—yes, she's an idiot. But there's nothing wrong with wanting a dining room table. Why did I get so mad at that lady?

Since being here, at least once a day I ask myself why I have lived in New York for so long. (It's like I had Stockholm Syndrome or something.) CALIFORNIA IS AWESOME. It's like the promised land. It's sunny all the time and there are birds and flowers everywhere. I have space out here. I have a sofa on the patio out here. I HAVE A SOFA OUTSIDE. I haven't seen one rat since I've been here. But hummingbirds? THEY ZIP BY MY HEAD EVERY DAY. I am so happy.

I'm supposed to go back to New York in November, but truth be told, I'm not sure I will.

Katie Holmes' Fun-Filled "Dead Accounts" Opening Night Festivities

Excited to share her new project with the public, Katie Holmes was front and center for the opening of her Broadway show "Dead Accounts" on Thursday (November 29).

The "Dawson's Creek" star wore a stylish red overcoat with a blue top and pointy black heels as she arrived at the Music Box Theatre for the official debut of her stage show.

In the play, the 33-year-old actress portrays Lorna, a defensive sad sack who has moved back home with her parents in Cincinnati after a failed relationship.

Set in the Midwest, a setting familiar to the Ohio native, the production runs through December 30th.

Once wrapped up with the well-received rendition of her Broadway production, Miss Holmes changed into a bit gaudier-than-usual garb as she joined cast, crew and media at the "Dead Accounts" Opening Night Afterparty held at Gotham Hall.

Usher's Stepson Declared Brain Dead After Jet-Ski Accident

Things went from bad to worse for Kiie Glover, Usher's 11-year-old stepson. After a tragic Jet Ski accident left the <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/07/08/ushers-son-injured-in-jet-ski-accident/">youngster in critical condition</a> on Friday, doctors have now declared him brain dead.<a href="http://www.tmz.com/2012/07/08/usher-tameka-foster-stepson-brain-dead/" target=="_blank">TMZ</a> is reporting that Glover, who is the son of Usher's ex-wife, Tameka Foster, has not experienced any brain activity since he was admitted into the hospital two days ago. According to reports, the pre-teen and a friend were floating in inner tubes on Lake Lanier in Atlanta when they were struck by a man on a Jet Ski. Glover was unresponsive when he was taken out of the water and airlifted to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston; his friend, an unidentified 15-year old girl, was treated for a cut on the head and a broken arm.According to the <a href="http://www.ajc.com/news/reports-ushers-stepson-injured-1473926.html" target="_blank">Atlanta Journal-Constitution,</a> the Georgia Department of Natural Resources said that alcohol doesn't appear to have been a factor in the accident and the newspaper also reported that the man on the Jet Ski and Glover were part of the same group on an outing at the lake.Foster and Usher (born Usher Raymond) were married in 2007 but divorced in 2009. The two are reportedly both present at the hospital.Many of Usher and Foster's celebrity friends took to Twitter on Sunday (July 8) to express their deepest sympathies."My deepest prayers go out to Tameka, Usher and both of their families right now," Diggy Simmons wrote."Wishing @TamekaRaymond's son godspeed recovery. horrible news to hear," Roots drummer Questlove added, while television personality La La Anthony wrote: "Praying for @TamekaRaymond and her family. Asking to give her and her family strength during this difficult time. "That sort of sums up what we wanted to achieve with the album cover, which has remained both anonymous and enigmatic at the same time."Of course, any great honor is befitting of an equally great contest, so, on the same day the stamps were made available to the general public, Coldplay decided to give one of their Rush of Blood stamps away. In a message on their official site, the band held a contest to send one lucky fan "a letter using a Coldplay stamp, postmarked with today's issue date.""We visited our local post office earlier today and bought some of the Coldplay stamps," the message read. "Very nice they are too."

This year's September issue of <a href="http://www.vogue.com/magazine/article/dream-girl-lady-gaga/#1" target="_blank">Vogue</a> is important not only because it's the September issue, but because it celebrates the magazine's 120 years in the business. And they've chosen the one and only <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a> as their cover girl.For her <a href="/news/articles/1657656/lady-gaga-vogue.jhtml">second cover</a>, Gaga went ultra-glam; her hair platinum and big paired with an off-the-shoulder, mermaid-cut Marc Jacobs gown in multiple shades of fuchsia, purple and pink.<div class="player-placeholder right" title="Lady Gaga Twitter Lightning Round!" id="vid:683377" width="415" height="255"></div>The cover line promises, "Think you know Lady Gaga? Think again." And, in several quotes teased from the issue, which officially hits newsstands on August 14, Gaga dishes on not only her Born This Way Ball, but also the reasons she makes the music she does.She also explained why it was so important that her fragrance appear so dark. "The fragrance is called <a href="/news/articles/1690972/lady-gaga-racy-fame-perfume-ad.jhtml">Fame</a>. It must be black," she said, noting that when she met with perfume designers they had to make sure it sprayed on clear. "It must be enticing. You must want to lick and touch and feel it, but the look of it must terrify you." As for her massive stage show, she explained that she wanted to "break the mold of what modern touring is now" and reinvent some of the images she's best known for, including that meat dress she wore to the 2010 VMAs."We were talking about putting the show together, and I said, 'OK, what if I was someone's grandma and I was going to a concert tonight? How would I know that it was a Gaga show?' " she said. "And we all just sort of looked at each other and said, 'The meat dress.' "If the meat dress wasn't distinction enough, Gaga said what also makes her shows different is the way they make you feel. "I don't really make records for people to listen to and go, 'Wow, she's a genius.' " She added, "I'd really like you to order a drink, maybe kiss the person you came with that evening, or rediscover something about your past that makes you feel even more brave."She explains in the issue that sometimes she doesn't just feel brave in her music, but also in her real life. And, despite her extremely high profile, she says she likes to "feel a little irresponsible and act like I'm 19." Lady Gaga's ARTPOP: A History Of Album Title Oddities

From unpronounceable symbols to parentheses, Gaga's ALL-CAPS album title joins the ranks of the all-time weirdest.

Over the weekend, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a> struck a blow against copy editors everywhere when she announced that the title of her new album, <a href="/news/articles/1691226/lady-gaga-new-album-artpop.jhtml">ARTPOP,</a> must always be written in ALL CAPS, because "it's all in the details."And while we're not trying to downplay said details, we'd be like to point out that Gaga isn't exactly the first artist to demand orthographical satisfaction. Shoot, she's not even the first to go ALL CAPS: Earlier this year, Linkin Park did the same thing with their <a href="/news/articles/1688422/linkin-park-living-things.jhtml">LIVING THINGS</a> album, only they one-upped Gaga by also requesting that all songs on the album also be written in all caps, bravely eschewing the lowercase for reasons apparent only to them.In fact, the history of popular music is packed with <a href="/news/articles/1579620/panic-at-disco-know-punctuation-better-than-they-think.jhtml">affronts to punctuation</a> — from early pioneers like the Beatles' "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" and James Brown's "Get Up (I Feel Like Being A) Sex Machine" to more recent torchbearers like Panic! at the Disco and Godspeed You! Black Emperor — though rarely have artists had the audacity to extend that mistreatment to the album title itself.Of course, there are those who have bravely dared to throw logic (and roughly 300 years of letter-case tradition) out the window when it came time to name their new albums. So in honor of Gaga's ARTPOP demands, here's a look back at some of the greatest — and by that, we mean most nonsensical — album titles in history.Led Zeppelin's IV: At the peak of their powers — both artistically and, it would seem, mystically — Zeppelin decided they didn't need to title their fourth album. Instead, they printed four hand-drawn symbols (each representing a band member) on its inner sleeve. The move has subsequently enthralled generations of bong-glazed dorm inhabitants and only added to the album's mystique. In the 40 years since it was released, the record has come to be known as IV, Runes, Zoso (after Jimmy Page's symbol) and "the one with 'Stairway to Heaven' on it."Prince's Love Symbol album: Released in the lead-up to the Purple One's "symbol" phase — when he changed his stage name to an unpronounceable hieroglyph that incorporated the symbols for both male and female — it understandably infuriated his label, Warner Bros., which was precisely what Prince intended. (Note to labels: Do not release greatest-hits packages without Prince's approval.) After the album didn't sell (he blamed this on Warner), Prince would eventually begin appearing in public with the phrase "Slave" written on his face. Shocking, to be sure, but at least you could pronounce it.Ministry's Psalm 69: Its actual title is a collection of Greek symbols (that translate to "head") and the number "69" in Greek numerals. Not only that, but Ministry named their 1992 album in honor of occultist Aleister Crowley's "The Book of Lies," which was first published as "Which is also Falsely Called BREAKS. The Wanderings or Falsifications of the One Thought of Frater Perduarbo, which Thought is itself Untrue. Liber CCCXXXIII [Book 333]." And that would have been a ridiculous name for an album.Sigur Ros' ( ): The Icelandic art-rockers really outdid themselves on their third album, and we're not just talking about the decision to sing all the songs in a made-up language called "Hopelandic." Technically, ( ) has no actual title. Rather, the brackets are meant to represent its two halves or give the listener the opportunity to determine the title themselves. Oh, and officially, all of the tracks on the album are untitled too. Your move, Gaga.Coldplay's X&Y: Sure, it's got a traditional title. But ever the artistes, Coldplay decided to print the name of their 2005 album in the <a href="/news/articles/1503742/coldplays-album-cover-decoded.jhtml">Baudot code</a>, an early forerunner of the Morse code that relied on a series of 1's and 0's to convey messages. Needless to say, the logic behind the decision was about as difficult to crack as the code itself.M.I.A. /\/\ /\ Y /\: Yes, we know that technically, M.I.A.'s 2010 album is called <a href="/news/articles/1638991/mias-new-album-called-y.jhtml">Maya</a> (she named it after herself, following in the tradition of her first two albums, which were named in honor of her mother and father), but let the record state that when she officially unveiled the title, she did so in tricky typographical fashion. No wonder <a href="/news/articles/1643219/mias-new-album-turd-diplo-tweets.jhtml">Diplo hated it</a> so much.Liars' WIXIW: It's pronounced "Wish You," FYI. The podium at the 2012 <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/2012/summer_jam_games">MTV News Summer Jam Games</a> is crowded with some of the biggest stars on the planet, each representing their respective genres with the hottest hits of the season. Nearly 740,000 votes were cast across the five categories (hip-hop, R&B, EDM, rock and pop) resulting in a winners' list led by both fan-favorite veteran acts and relative newcomers.So who took home the gold in our Summer Jam Games? Usher's Stepson Kile Glover Taken Off Life Support

11-year-old died Saturday from heart failure after he was pulled off of life support, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Kile Glover, stepson of singer <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher Raymond</a> and biological child of ex-wife Tameka Foster Raymond, died Saturday morning (July 21), according to Channel 2 Action News.Kile was taken off of life support Saturday morning and died from heart failure according to a family friend, weeks after the 11-year-old was involved in a tragic <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1689206/ushers-stepson-declared-brain-dead-after-jet-ski-accident.jhtml">Jet Ski accident</a>. Kile was declared brain dead two days after the July 6 accident, and the family struggled with the decision to remove him from life support hoping for a turn in his condition."We know God's in control, and are leaning on our faith in Him and His word at this most difficult time," the family told CNN in a statement weeks ago. "We firmly believe in the power of prayer and ask that you all continue to pray and lift Kile up, as it's the best way we can all support him now."Earlier yesterday Tameka tweeted a photo of Kile alongside his younger brother Cinco (Usher V).Glover and a second victim, a 15-year-old girl, were struck by a Jet Ski while floating on an inner tube in Atlanta's Lake Lanier. Both children were airlifted to the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston pediatric hospital. The girl is reported to have suffered from a cut on the head and a broken arm, while Glover took the brunt of the trauma to his head.Atlanta's radio personality DJ Greg Street sent out a tweet earlier this morning where he expressed support for Tameka, Usher and Kile's dad Ryan Glover. "Lil RG is an Angel now, Ryan, Tameka, Usher & the whole Glover Family we gotta make him proud," he wrote.The man driving the jet ski has been identified as 38-year-old Jeffrey S. Hubbard, a family friend. At this time the police have determined that no drugs were involved, and no charges are being pressed.Kile is the son of Tameka Foster, the ex-wife of singer Usher Raymond, and Atlanta TV executive Ryan Glover. Foster has three children from previous relationships prior to her marriage to Usher.

The singer has just unveiled another ad for her fragrance, the aptly titled <a href="/news/articles/1689786/lady-gaga-nude-perfume-ad.jhtml">Fame</a>, dropping in September.While she donned nothing except for tiny men crawling up her body in the last image, this new one features the singer in a clingy PVC bodysuit with a big PVC hat and face mask. The black-and-white photo features two Mother Monsters, facing off in a side-by-side mirror image.<div class="player-placeholder right" title="Lady Gaga's Musical Roots" id="vid:657640" width="415" height="255"></div>Like the first ad, this one was also shot by "Alejandro" video director and fashion photographer Steven Klein. Usher Brings 2012 BET Awards To A 'Climax'

R&B crooner let his vocals do the dancing with a simple, stripped-down performance.

With two spotlights shining down on him, a sleeveless <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="1270">Usher</MTVNLINK> belted out the first notes of his summer hit, "Climax," at Sunday's <a href="http://www.bet.com/shows/bet-awards/2012.html" target="_blank">2012 BET Awards</a>.The R&B crooner stood center stage, wearing all black, save for a pair of hot-colored shoes, and sang the ballad with the electro-beat from his seventh studio album, Looking 4 Myself, in front of a live band. Some wicked, black-and-white animation danced behind him on a large screen that backlit the auditorium.This was the first time Usher has performed at the awards show since 2010, where he also sang another ballad, "There Goes My Baby," from his Raymond v. Save for a few quick microphone movements, he let his vocals dance during the performance. Usher's Stepson's Family Asks For Prayers Following Jet Ski Accident

Glover, the son of Usher's ex-wife Tameka Foster, was <a href="/news/articles/1689206/ushers-stepson-declared-brain-dead-after-jet-ski-accident.jhtml">pronounced brain dead</a> on Sunday, but his family has issued a statement, saying that they are keeping positive thoughts and asking for prayers."We know God's in control, and are leaning on our faith in Him and His word at this most difficult time," the family told <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2012/07/10/showbiz/usher-stepson-injured/index.html" target="_blank">CNN</a> in a statement. "We firmly believe in the power of prayer and ask that you all continue to pray and lift Kile up, as it's the best way we can all support him now."According to CNN, Glover's family has already held a vigil for him at the hospital, and Usher visited the 11-year-old the morning after he was admitted to the hospital. The two had reportedly grown close during the R&B singer's two-year marriage to Foster.The accident took place on Friday (July 6) when Glover and a second victim, a 15-year-old girl, were struck by a jet-ski while floating on an inner tube in Atlanta's Lake Lanier. Both children were airlifted to the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston pediatric hospital. The girl is reported to have suffered from a cut on the head and a broken arm, while Glover took the brunt of the trauma to his head.The man driving the jet ski has been identified as 38-year-old Jeffrey S. Hubbard, a family friend. At this time the police have determined that no drugs were involved, and no charges are being pressed. On Sunday TMZ reported that Glover was declared brain dead when doctors determined that he had not experienced any brain activity since he was admitted to the hospital on Friday.Friends of Usher and his ex-wife have sent their well-wishes to the family via Twitter. "Wishing @TamekaRaymond's son godspeed recovery. horrible news to hear," Roots drummer Questlove tweeted, while Jermaine Dupri added, "Lifers! pls say a prayer for man Ryan, Tameka, Usher and the Glover family."
